ORIGINAL SHIPS IN SCALE ON CD!
ONLY $35.95
We're back with more new CD's! That's right...we've just finished our archival CD reproduction of the original Ships in Scale magazine- the entire run! Here you will find every issue of all nine
volumes of the magazine's publication, recorded for posterity (and for you!) on a double-CD set. That takes us from Volume I, Number 1 in September-October 1983 through Number 46 of March-April 1991. That's forty-six complete issues,
with every cover and every page, each reproduced in the original order and format. That's what we mean by an archival reproduction. We purchased Ships in Scale just after that and combined it with Seaways to form today's Seaways' Ships in Scale.
Here in the original Ships in Scale you can find that wonderful old Lexington series by Lionel Meeker, some of the earliest articles by master miniaturist Lloyd McCaffrey, the highly regarded series on HMS Victory by Gene McClure, the sell-out issue of January-February 1991 with "original" President George Bush on the cover. You can print out the dozens of shop hints for your own shop binder and print out plans for your personal use. There are literally hundreds of articles to read, plans to study,
book reviews to ponder and kit reviews to start the creative juices flowing...the list goes on and on!
The CD's are set up magnificently. Designer Paul Mitchell scanned every cover and page at twice the resolution of our last CD set for more accurate print-outs and he set up a print-only format to get rid of the headers and footers. Paul produced it again in HTML (hyper-text markup language) so that it is compatible with all popular Web browsers on either a PC or a Mac. (You don't have to be online to use it, either.) The CD's are
now programmed to start automatically in your PC. You can select an issue from the cover photos, shown in one year rows, turn the page to the table of contents, choose an article from the TOC and click on it to get to the article, then just page through it or go back to the beginning. We have also included a cumulative index so you can search for and print out a list of references from each of the two collections, using any keyword, name, date, writer or topic you'd like. Very easy to use! We also have the index
up on our Web site at http://www.seaways.com, if you'd like to have a peek We also have a CD-oriented special e-mail list/chat group for folks to discuss the features of the set with the designer. To join, just follow the simple directions on the special Yahoo Groups Web page at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SISCD. Then, if you have any questions about the content, function or features of the CD's, just fire off a question to Paul.
All of the issues reproduced here have long since been out of print. If you could find them, a complete set would cost you hundreds of dollars. The Original Ships in Scale CD Set, on the other hand, is an incredible value at $35.95 plus $5 for postage and shipping and handling, plus any applicable tax. For orders to Canada an additional $2 will be added and for all other orders outside the US an additonal $5 will be added.
